WIZARDRY is the definitive Fantasy Role-Playing (FRP) simulation ever. Play for the ultimate challenge as you explore a mythical world in which you hunt for the Cosmic Forge, a magical pen whose writing caused the river of time itself to change course.
As a player in WIZARDRY you are given a party of six companions to use to fill the ranks of a heroic adventuring group. Six different races — Human, Dwarf, Elven, Giant, Dragonborn, and Lizard- inhabit the land. Each has a different set of skills, strengths, and weaknesses. They may be weak in physical prowess but stout in intellect, or intelligent and strong but clumsy. Six proficiencies are also available — Mining, Fishing, Construction, Cooking, Herbalism, and Physical Fitness.
Choose from five different starting classes: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Thief, and Scout. All of these classes can eventually be promoted to become a Champion or Master.
WIZARDRY is non-violent, but watch out — the world can be very dangerous.
During your long and arduous quest, you may meet non-player characters who can help or hinder your progress. Friendly NPCs are just good-natured folks, but beware of monsters and traps lurking in the dark depths of the place.
If you wish to take a break and return to civilization, WIZARDRY is fully capable of driving you to a «save».
Every character can undertake a series of quests to increase their current skills. It’s up to you and your party to discover and unravel the mysteries of WIZARDRY.
Every object in the game, ranging from an arrow-proof shield to a suit of dragon scale armor, can be researched to find out how it works.
Whether you are a capable swordsman, mage, or spellcasting warrior or a stealthy rogue, your skills will continue to grow as the game advances. You’ll receive new equipment to replace the old, and your party’s skills will rise with the expansion of new classes or the acquisition of new skills.
Sixteen unique spellbooks are also part of the game, each with a variety of spells. Each spell is either offensive or defensive in nature, and can either be cast directly or via the use of other magic items. These spells can be enhanced with various restorative items that can also be learned.

Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge is an action role-playing video game developed by Strategic Simulations, Inc., published by Interplay Productions, and distributed by Brøderbund, Inc. It is the first Wizardry developed to use their Infinity Engine, and the first Wizardry game officially released on DOS and Windows 3.1. It was released in 1994 for DOS, and later ported to Microsoft Windows.
In the game, players take on the role of a 16th-century warlock named Bane, who explores the Gameboard, or Gameboard of Arin Gallie, to prove that ancient magical artifacts exist. A sizeable expansion was also released.
Gameplay
Synopsis
The game story centers around a warlock named Bane who is hired by a wizard to retrieve and come to terms with an ancient artifact, the Fiery Gauntlet. It had been taken from Bane’s early life village, and was revered by his people as a chieftain’s source of power. When the Fiery Gauntlet was stolen, Bane lost his leadership and his tribe was driven from their village by the evil Mazikar, an organization who took control of the village’s trade alliance, draining much of the village’s internal wealth.Before Bane can learn the artifact’s true purpose, the body of Mazikar’s hero—a man named Lev—was found in an ancient arena, murdered and with his head removed. Bane travels to the mines of the Mazikar’s headquarters to investigate, but the mines are in a state of disarray due to the mysterious upheaval of Mazikar with the crystalline artifact.
Bane’s village has been hidden away and his whereabouts are uncertain, and he is unable to contact anyone to corroborate his stories. Upon uncovering the golem Lev, it is revealed that the artifact was his weapon and armor.
Upon approaching it, Bane begins to possess the golem and to fight with it against his opponent — the gentle Lev, who is capable of attacking its own enemy. Finally with help from the players, the choices of the golem are entrusted to the player to determine Lev’s fate. As the golem dies, the artifacts are no longer strapped to its dead body, and attempt to possess Bane who is now a mummified-like creature. Once the player has returned to the golem’s body, he vanquishes it and the altar, causing the artifacts to return to the ground.
