“…. It was time for me to give the game a go as I felt a little burnt out from the series after a few years of not playing it…..”

“I purchased the game recently and had the honour of going hands on with the demo at Gamescom. It was quite an incredible experience. While it might not be an RPG, it is a game that I personally am a fan of. The main story is fairly linear but does have some exploration capabilities. There are many options that can be played from dialogue choices in battle and a quick travel map system. There are a total of 9 character classes you can play as and each one has a unique skill set for really fast progression. The combat looks amazing with a wide variety of moves; simple attacks, dodge rolls, parries and counter attacks. The combat mechanic is well thought out and I didn’t feel overwhelmed despite the novelty of such an action RPG.

The graphics look incredibly good and have a bit of depth that comes as expected. The various equipment and weapons are in a well thought out selection of colours and styles. The enemies are large and varied from goblin throwing axes to giant boss bosses. To be honest the graphics look better than I’m expecting for what I was playing on the PS4 demo. My only gripe so far is that the control scheme feels a little bit unintuitive at times. I found it easier to use the analog stick on the controller for movement and the face buttons for attacks. The story is good, it’s an intriguing idea to have the whole story laid out so clearly. Sadly, there is no co-op or split screen support.

For those that like playing online there are many different kinds of players and guilds to join. The world seems vast and full of interesting places to explore. I really like the setting and world design, the music and visuals looked fantastic. The interface is quite smooth and the play mechanics fit together quite well. The way it showcases the story through the dialogue choices is a nice touch. Overall this is a great looking game.”

The Gameplay feature on the website gave the game a 7/10 and the graphics were rated 6.5/10 and these numbers indicated a good game but not an unarguably great one. I decided to try the game out and I must admit I was, frankly, blown away.
