Yvonne Louise Mulford was born to a Methodist family and grew up on her parents’ farm in the lower Hunter Valley, New South Wales.
Career
Mulford began singing lessons when she was 12 and in 1947 was offered a scholarship to the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, and the following year to the Royal Academy of Music in London.
